For over twenty years, NORMI™ has proven what happens when training, ethics, and public health come first. Normi Canada brings that standard north and adapts it to Canadian climate, Canadian buildings, and Canadian law. From coastal humidity to Prairie deep freezes, tight building envelopes and long heating seasons create moisture challenges that generic training misses. Building codes are set province by province, with the 2025 National Building Code now being adopted at different speeds, and licensing for mould professionals remains limited. We prepare professionals to work confidently within that patchwork.
Indoor environmental work is ultimately about health. NORMI™’s Medical Advisory Board, chaired by Dr. Andrew Heyman of The George Washington University, brings clinical insight into remediation practice and bridges the gap between remediators and healthcare providers. Normi Canada has now assembled its own Medical Advisory Board, adapted for Canada’s healthcare system, public health guidance, and living conditions. NORMI™ and NormiCanada – Strategic Alliance.
The NORMI™ / Normi Canada Strategic Alliance Partnership was created Spring 2025. Since then, The Alliance has established NormiCanada and works closely with NORMI™ to expand their gold standard of training & certification for Canada.
About NORMI™ – founded in July 2004 in Abita Springs, Louisiana. The executive director (Doug Hoffman) witnessed the damage from flooding, mould growth and the often‐poor remediation practices that followed. He set about to create an organisation to train and certify professionals in remediation and indoor environmental quality. Over time NORMI™ expanded its certifications, training programs, entered legislative discussions about state‐licensing of mold & microbial remediation professionals, and broadened into indoor air quality (IAQ) and microbial contamination more generally.
NORMI™’s Mission Statement & Goals:
“Realizing that our nation’s indoor air environments and drinking water sources are at risk, NORMI™ is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the indoor living environment through educating the public and training professionals to identify problems and offer solutions to improve indoor air and drinking water quality.” – Doug Hoffman.
Staying true to their original goals – training professionals (IAQ, drinking water, mould remediation), educating the public, influencing state/provincial licensing legislation, offering continuing education, supporting its membership, while the numbers of students and new & diverse trainings increase every year.
Offering 30+ types of certifications (e.g., Certified Mould Assessor, Certified Indoor Environmental Advisor, Certified Biocide Applicator, Formaldehyde Screener, Illicit Drug Cleanup etc. Their intention is to improve occupant health, protect living environments, support professionals in the business of remediation/IAQ, and respond to evolving environmental health threats.
About NormiCanada – Based just outside Vancouver, B.C. our classrooms for Live and Online training have ample seating and free parking. It’s literally a TV Studio complete with stages, mobile and boom cameras, floor to ceiling large green screens and production crew. A large studio control room mixes the live-on-stage training with the telecast training coming from locations around North America, to deliver a seamless training production. A very smooth and educational experience whether you are in the studio or online. We can also assist with providing accommodations and meals if needed.
